Officer, 2 Others Hospitalized Following Crash: Philadelphia Police

A police officer and two civilians were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Philadelphia, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.

The crash, which involved a police vehicle, happened in the 500 block of West Callowhill Street at 12:29 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, police said.

The police officer was taken by a Philadelphia Fire Department Medic Unit to Jefferson University Hospital where they were placed in stable condition, according to police. Medic Units also transported the driver and passenger of the GMC to Jefferson University Hospital, where they were placed in stable condition.

The police vehicle was responding for an assignment while westbound on Callowhill Street, police said. At the same time, a 2020 GMC Terrain was northbound on Fifth Street toward Callowhill Street.

Both vehicles entered the intersection of Fifth and Callowhill streets at the same time, leading to the crash, police said.

The Philadelphia Police Department Crash Investigation Division is investigating.
